Ted Lasso steps down as manager as season 4 ends with job shuffles
In the Ted Lasso season 4 finale, the title character steps down as manager to spend time with his son.
The episode titled The Departing Lass shows Ted handing over the women's team manager role to Alice Chilton, who has been integral to the team's rise. Ted tells her he just wants to spend more time with his son Henry, realising he has missed too much.
Roy accepts a major job managing Chelsea but faces the complication of becoming a parent with Keeley. Rebecca proposes to her boyfriend Matthijs.
The episode also reveals that pub owner Mae has died and used her will to save the team from hostile takeover. Executive producer Brendan Hunt said Ted stepping down was always central to the season's plan.
On whether there will be a season 5, Hunt said no cliffhangers remain but unanswered questions linger about Ted and Beard working as peers, Roy and Keeley as new parents, and Alice leading the team.
