Anne Hathaway plays the villain in Verity film

Anne Hathaway stars as a sinister author in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's novel Verity, opposite Dakota Johnson.

Verity, based on Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel, has just hit screens with Anne Hathaway in the title role. Dakota Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who moves into the Crawford family home to ghostwrite the final books in a lucrative series.

Lowen discovers a secret autobiography that paints Verity in a chilling light. The film is a psychological thriller rather than jump-scare horror.

Anne Hathaway is the real scream queen of the feature and understands the smaller, less glamorous role is the meatier one. Josh Hartnett plays Verity's husband Jeremy.

The film was shot in the 1961-designed Nierenberg House, which becomes a character in itself.
