Proud Poppy founder reclaims brand after four-week restructure
Founder Tara McKeon regains control of the fashion brand after creditors approved a restructuring plan.
Womenswear brand Proud Poppy has come out of voluntary administration with founder Tara McKeon back in charge. Four stores closed during the restructuring: Shepparton and Doreen in Victoria, Gippsland in Victoria, and Wagga Wagga in New South Wales.
The business now runs two retail stores in Toowoomba and Gympie, plus an online shop. Creditors, including staff and suppliers, voted to support the restructuring.
McKeon said the brand survived because of community loyalty. She urged other business owners facing difficulty to get advice early and not see voluntary administration as the end.
