Warren Pickering defends One Nation's lack of a cost estimate

Pickering backed coal and gas at a launch attended by about 100 people.

One Nation's Victorian leader, Warren Pickering, spoke to about 100 people at the Bundalong Tavern. The event was on the evening of Sunday, October 11.

It launched the campaign of James Rouel. Rouel is One Nation's candidate for Ovens Valley.

Pickering backed coal and gas. His party wants to scrap renewable energy zones.

It also wants to scrap the First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria. That body represents Indigenous views on treaty talks.

Pickering defended his party's choice not to give a cost estimate. He said no cost projection in Victoria in the last two decades had been accurate within 50 per cent.

Two campaigners questioned him. Sharon McEvoy, from Dederang, and Libby Foubister, from Glenrowan West, have campaigned against battery and solar projects.

Pickering said One Nation wants a pause on existing proposals.
