Accused officer admits friend caught up in his case during prison visit

Secret recording shows Lamarre-Condon admitting his friend is involved in the case because of him.

A secret recording captured former police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon saying sorry to a friend. This was during a prison visit in December.

Lamarre-Condon said during the meeting, "I fully take accountability that you're involved because of me now." The friend had recorded the talk and gave it to police.

Lamarre-Condon is 31. He is accused of shooting dead couple Jesse Baird and Luke Davies with his police gun on 19 February 2024.

He pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder. He also faces one charge of aggravated break and enter.

The friend's name is secret. Earlier, the friend told the court that Lamarre-Condon allegedly confessed to the killings.

In the recording, Lamarre-Condon disagreed with some of what his friend told police. He claimed he acted in self-defence.
