Iranian attack damages US warplane and fighter jets at Jordan base

Iranian forces attacked the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan with missiles, damaging several US military aircraft. One was an A-10 Thunderbolt II, also called a Warthog, and lost a wing.
About eight F-15 fighter jets had lighter damage but returned to service. US forces fired about 30 Patriot air-defence interceptors to stop the Iranian missiles.
The conflict began in February. Since then, 18 US service members have been killed and more than 800 wounded.
The US military lost or damaged 42 aircraft in total, including more than two dozen destroyed drones.
