Corey Taylor faces jail after blaming 'Little Johnny' for stolen trailer
Gordon man pleaded guilty to theft and speeding, then weeks later was caught driving more than double the speed limit.
Corey Taylor, 24, pleaded guilty to 16 charges spanning theft and speeding between December 2024 and May 2026. Police say he stole a tandem trailer from a 73-year-old's property in December 2025, spray-painted it, and tampered with its ID plate.
When questioned, he claimed he bought it from a man nicknamed "Little Johnny" on a dirt road near Kryal Castle. Taylor could not produce contact details, saying he lost the number and changed phones.
Just days later, on January 1, 2026, he was caught driving more than double the speed limit in a 60kmh zone on Old Western Highway. He admitted speeding and said he was showing off his car to a friend.
The court heard defence argue Taylor was vulnerable due to several physical and mental health issues and caring responsibilities. Magistrate Ronald Saines said a non-custodial sentence seemed inappropriate.
Taylor returns to court for sentencing on October 2.
