West Coast clings on as Essendon stages late siege in Roberts' 50-game milestone
Ella Roberts celebrated her 50th AFLW game as West Coast held off a furious Essendon comeback to win 45-35.
West Coast looked cruising to victory at Windy Hill, leading by 28 points at three-quarter time. Essendon erupted in the final quarter, kicking 2.7 to West Coast's 0.1.
The Bombers' missed chances proved costly as they fell short by 10 points. Roberts had an enormous game with 31 disposals, four clearances, nine tackles and 717 metres gained, while Jaide Britton kicked two goals for the Eagles.
Maddy Prespakis fought hard for Essendon with 27 disposals, but the Bombers' 0-7 record remains a concern. West Coast have turned their season around, winning three straight after starting 0-4.
