Kane Cornes completes first marathon before Rottnest double for Telethon
Kane Cornes completed a sub-three-hour marathon at Perth Running Festival and will run Rottnest Island Thursday for Telethon.
AFL great Kane Cornes clocked under three hours in the 42.2km race at Perth Running Festival on Sunday, one of 18,750 runners at the city's biggest running event ever. The Seven presenter said cool weather and a good pace group helped him stay strong from 30km onwards.
Cornes will run the Rottnest marathon Thursday for Telethon, joined by Premier Roger Cook, Triple M hosts Xavier Ellis and Katie Lamb, and AFL commentator Luke Hodge, who will skydive over the island. The festival is expected to raise $300,000 for the charity.
Cornes once ran 725 kilometres from Adelaide to Melbourne in 12 days in 2022 and plans to rest before Thursday's challenge.
