Man sentenced for threatening Kmart staff and assaulting woman

Joshua William McMillan was sentenced to jail and community correction for threatening retail workers and assaulting a woman at a hotel.

Joshua William McMillan, 35, from North Wagga appeared in court on September 30 and pleaded guilty to intimidating a retail worker, possessing a prohibited drug, and common assault. McMillan first walked into a Kmart at Sturt Mall on August 27, 2025.

McMillan threatened a security guard and was told to leave. McMillan returned the next day with a friend.

He threatened staff again and was escorted out by security. Months later at a hotel, McMillan argued with a woman he knew.

She punched him in the face. McMillan walked away but returned and spat in her face.

Police arrested him on warrants and found methamphetamine in his jacket. The court sentenced him to one month in jail for the intimidation charge, no penalty for drug possession, and a 15-month community correction order for the assault.
