NSW Labor pushes to have One Nation's policies costed by independent office
Labor's proposed changes would make Labor, Liberal and One Nation submit their policies for costing.
The Minns government wants to give One Nation access to the Parliamentary Budget Office. The Parliamentary Budget Office is an independent agency.
It gives election policies a price tag. Only the two major parties have used the office in NSW since it began in 2010.
NSW Treasurer Daniel Mookhey said One Nation openly admires American and Argentinian-style wage policies, healthcare policies and public service cuts. Mookhey said voters deserve independent advice on what those ideas mean for them.
Under the proposed changes, Labor, Liberal and One Nation would all have to submit policies for costing. Barnaby Joyce is One Nation's deputy leader.
He accused the budget office of basing its costings on Labor's treasury. Joyce suggested One Nation use the accountants it hires to produce its own costings.
