Moyne Shire votes on memorial seat for couple killed in truck crash
Councillors vote on placing a plaque honouring Jim and Carmel Madden outside the Koroit theatre.
Jim and Carmel Madden, both 80 and 81, died on October 25, 2024. A truck crossed paddocks and hit their Tower Hill home.
The Maddens were long-standing community volunteers. The Moyne Shire Council planned to decide on a memorial plaque in June 2026.
They delayed it after community feedback. Councillors rejected a railway station site in August.
On Tuesday September 22, 2026, Cr Jim Doukas will ask councillors to install the plaque on a seat outside the Koroit theatre. The Madden family backs this location.
The inscription reads: In memory of Jim and Carmel Madden. Dedicated volunteers of the Koroit and district community.
