Wil Parker joins Carlton after Collingwood cuts the dual-code player
Wil Parker, a former Sheffield Shield bowler cut by Collingwood, has been recruited by Carlton on an AFL lifeline.
The 24-year-old played 14 games over three seasons for Collingwood, including five in 2026, but could not lock down a spot on the half-back line. Collingwood brought in Dan Houston and Harry Perryman to compete with Josh Daicos and Isaac Quaynor for defensive roles.
Parker performed well in last year's qualifying final win but was dropped for the preliminary final loss. Wil Parker had abandoned a promising cricket career to pursue AFL.
Carlton general manager Chris Davies said Parker showed promise and poise under pressure with good foot skills. With more game time at Carlton, Davies believes Parker has room to develop further.
