One Nation leader backs anti-vaccination bill during parliament visit
One Nation's Mike Newman endorsed an anti-vax bill during a surprise parliament visit. This drew criticism from Premier Minns.
Mike Newman is One Nation's leader. He visited NSW parliament on Wednesday.
He said he supported an anti-vax bill by Libertarian MP John Ruddick. Newman is not an elected MP.
Parliament staff asked him to leave the chamber after he briefly sat in an area reserved for opposition staff. Newman said he did not know why he had to leave.
Premier Chris Minns criticized him during question time. Minns said One Nation refused to show what its policies would cost.
This, he argued, could fuel inflation and damage the budget. Minns told parliament that without costed plans, One Nation would stuff the budget, screw up debt, and add pressure to the Reserve Bank when it deals with inflation.
Newman said he would later meet with the budget office. But he questioned whether it was truly independent.
