One Nation challenges Minns to coal debate in Hunter
One Nation leader Mike Newman challenged Premier Minns to debate coal policy in the Hunter region.
Newman, One Nation's NSW leader, proposed a debate in Singleton or Muswellbrook on Tuesday. Newman wants to argue for coal against Minns' net zero plans.
The Premier's office said debates will happen during the campaign but first wants One Nation to have its policies checked by the Parliamentary Budget Office. One Nation is running in both Cessnock and Upper Hunter.
It pledges to scrap the Independent Planning Commission and renewable energy zones if elected. Newman said his plan is simple: get out of the way and restore market trust.
The NSW Treasurer has asked One Nation to submit its budget plans for review before voters decide.

Why it mattersThe Hunter is a key marginal region for Labor. One Nation's pro-coal stance directly challenges the government's energy policy before the election.
AustraliaThis shapes the NSW election contest in a coal-dependent region, with One Nation mounting a strong challenge to Labor's Hunter seats.
