Allan Wallett, Riverina radio icon, dies after more than 40 years on air
Allan Wallett hosted 2RG's breakfast show for over 40 years. He died on October 5.
Wallett was a former shearer and a quiet larrikin. He became a household name across the Riverina region.
Wallett left his radio job in 2016. His career lasted more than four decades.
Beyond radio, he was a passionate harness racing caller. He worked at tracks in Leeton, Griffith and Junee.
He was a big supporter of country music artists. Darren Wallett said his father spent decades doing charity work.
He rarely said no to community requests. Hundreds of tributes flooded social media after his death.
His partner Ffiona Beverley said the response from listeners and the trotting community was overwhelming. Wallett is survived by three children and six grandchildren.
