English teenager Grant takes 12 wickets in three rounds of Bendigo cricket
Charlie Grant, 18, has taken 12 wickets in only three rounds of the Bendigo District Cricket Association's first season.
Charlie Grant arrived in Bendigo only months ago without knowing much about the city or the local cricket. The 18-year-old from Sussex took a gap year to play summer cricket in Australia, following his older sister who has played in Australia.
Grant plays off-spinner for Bendigo's Goers and has made an immediate impact. In only three rounds of the BDCA season, he has claimed 12 wickets.
He took a five-for on debut and a seven-for last round. His 7-142 against Strathfieldsaye ranks as the fourth-best bowling figures by a Bendigo player since 2000.
He lives with fellow Bendigo player Nathan Fitzpatrick and teammate Lucas Smith, also English, who arrived at East Grinstead with him.
