Young man returns to cricket and basketball after two strokes at 22
Jake Vincent had two strokes at age 22 in 2018, recovered, and now plays first-grade cricket and coaches basketball.
Jake Vincent suffered two strokes in 2018 after returning home from a concert, caused by narrow blood vessels in his brain that kept clotting. After hospital and rehabilitation, doctors were unsure if he would play sport again.
Jake believed his life was over and thought he would never travel or fly. About six months into recovery, he began to re-emerge with support from teammates and a return to normal life.
Today he plays first-grade cricket at Ulverstone Cricket Club and basketball for the Latrobe Demons, and coaches the Latrobe Demons Under-18 team. His wife Sidney is now walking during Stroke Awareness Month to raise funds for the Stroke Foundation and promote awareness of stroke symptoms.
