Wollongong Wolves end two-year homelessness with Kooloobong Oval lease
The Wollongong Wolves have ended their two-year homelessness with a Kooloobong Oval lease.
The Wollongong Wolves were two-time National Soccer League champions. Now they have finally found a home.
The club lost Albert Butler Park two years ago. Since then, they moved between temporary training grounds.
Head coach Luke Wilkshire announced the news at the club's end-of-season presentation. The Wolves will lease Kooloobong Oval, which is near the University of Wollongong.
The Wolves plan to build a top-class facility at the ground. It will have two football pitches (one synthetic), a gym, better change rooms, a canteen and corporate area.
Wilkshire pushed the council to speed up approvals. He wants the facility ready by January.
The 2027 NSW NPL season starts then. Just the first phase includes a two-level gym.
It also has upgraded change rooms with a 300-seat stand above.
