Warrnambool restaurant opens Victoria's first self-serve loaded fries bar
Lady Vandeberg, a Warrnambool restaurant, will reopen with a self-serve loaded fries bar, the first of its kind in Victoria.
Lady Vandeberg, a Warrnambool dining spot, has spent a month closed for a makeover to install a self-serve loaded fries bar. Customers press a red button and hot chips drop into a container, then choose from toppings including mac and cheese, pulled pork, chilli beef, gravy or chicken.
Owner Catherine Kelson said it is the first in Victoria and only the second in Australia. Kelson opened the venue ten years ago and just wanted to stand out amid tougher trading.
She has noticed diners spending less on eating out due to cost of living pressures, with more people on weight-loss drugs and fewer eating full meals. The venue already runs Hoozy Fro-yo Bar next door, which has thrived since opening at Easter.
Lady Vandeberg reopens October 1 at 4pm with both the loaded bar and its original menu.
