Three charged over robberies targeting lone women in Melbourne's south-east

Two 16-year-olds and an 18-year-old have been charged over 21 robberies targeting mostly lone women across Melbourne's bayside and south-eastern suburbs.

Three males, two aged 16 and one aged 18, have been charged following a series of robberies targeting mostly lone women across Melbourne's south-east. Police are investigating the group over 21 incidents.

Two cars were stolen from a Glen Waverley gym on September 21 and then used by the group to drive around suburbs where mostly women were robbed. A 64-year-old woman was dragged and had her groceries stolen at traffic lights outside Chadstone Shopping Centre.

Another woman was punched in the face and her designer purse stolen at the same centre. A woman was shoved to the ground and robbed on the Princes Highway in Clayton.

A convenience store worker was threatened with a machete. The 18-year-old is in custody facing aggravated burglary and car theft charges.

One 16-year-old is on bail, the other in custody. Police continue investigating.
