Melbourne man convicted of assault and threats to kill party guest
Reagan Bear, 39, was convicted of assault and threats after confronting a woman at a New Year's Eve party.
Reagan Bear, 39, of Melbourne, was found guilty on September 29 of unlawful assault, threat to destroy property, and threat to kill after an incident at a New Year's Eve party in central Victoria on January 1, 2025.
A woman confronted Bear over his aggressive behaviour, telling him he did not intimidate her. Reagan Bear puffed up his chest and bumped into her, knocking her back several steps.
As she demanded he leave, Bear repeatedly threatened to rape and kill her. He told her she would hear children screaming in a burning house.
The magistrate found the woman and two other witnesses honest and believable. Body-worn camera footage showed Bear aggressive and belligerent when police arrested him.
Bear has bipolar disorder and had been off his medication for three weeks before the incident.
