Man jailed three years for rifle-butt attack leaving victim scarred
Christopher Hui Tong, 52, was sentenced to three years for attacking a woman with a rifle butt.
On December 28, 2024, an argument erupted between Hui Tong, his wife and a 25-year-old victim in a caravan at their Landsborough property. Hui Tong grabbed a .22 rifle while the victim hid in a shipping container.
Hui Tong fired two or three shots toward the container, then entered and struck her face with the rifle butt. The victim was taken to hospital needing stitches inside and outside her mouth and bears a scar above her upper lip.
County Court Judge Sarah Dawes sentenced Hui Tong to three years in prison with a non-parole period of one year and eight months, making him eligible for parole in about two months. The judge noted the victim remains emotionally distraught, heartbroken and afraid for her safety.
