Truck driver airlifted after semi-trailer collision on Bruce Highway
Two semi-trailers collided on the Sunshine Coast's Bruce Highway; one driver was airlifted to hospital.
A crane truck and a Linfox semi-trailer collided around 1pm on the Bruce Highway at Banya in the southbound lanes on the Sunshine Coast. One person was trapped in the wreckage.
Emergency services including a helicopter crew responded to the crash and airlifted the driver to hospital. A witness said the crane truck tried to brake and swerve to avoid the vehicle ahead but crashed into the back of it instead.
Multiple ambulance and fire crews attended the scene while police diverted traffic. The highway was moving again by 2.50pm.
