Tesla plans Australia's largest EV charging hub in Thurgoona
Tesla wants to build its biggest Australian charging station with 37 posts in the growing Thurgoona area.
Tesla wants to build a $3.5 million charging hub in Thurgoona. The hub will be Australia's largest electric vehicle station.
The plan includes 37 charging posts on Diamond Drive opposite a Coles supermarket that opened last year. A 100-kilowatt solar system on canopies will power the site.
A 2.1-metre fence at the rear will protect against bushfires. Mayor Kylie King said she welcomes private investment in EV charging.
She noted that travellers between Sydney and Melbourne often struggle to find chargers. Tesla opened a service centre in central Albury this year.
The move signals confidence in the EV market along the Hume Highway.
