Five women injured after car crashes into Canberra massage shop
A Subaru crashed into a massage shop, injuring five women at a shopping centre in Weston.
A silver Subaru lost control at Cooleman Court shopping centre in Weston and crashed into Harmony Tree massage shop about 11:45am on Thursday. Three women were trapped under the vehicle, and the 84-year-old driver was trapped inside.
Firefighters took about 45 minutes to rescue everyone. Five women were treated mostly for lower body injuries, with two in serious but stable condition.
Paramedics said it was remarkable the injuries were not worse. The driver tested negative for drugs and alcohol, and police found no evidence of deliberate action.
A business employee said the car missed her by a few inches as she was eating lunch at the back.
