Bendigo's tulip dig swaps digging for a one-day bag sale
Residents can buy up to four $8 bags, from 8am to 11am on Thursday, October 15.
Bendigo's popular tulip dig has changed, and city staff have already dug up the bulbs. For the second year in a row, the 'Tulip Dig' has been scrapped.
The City of Greater Bendigo lets residents buy up to four empty bags at the Conservatory Gardens and fill them from the bulk piles of bulbs. Each bag costs $8 and should fit about 20 bulbs, the city says.
Entry runs from 8am to 11am at the Conservatory Gardens on Thursday, October 15. The event is cashless, so you must pay by EFTPOS, the card payment system.
A limited number of bulbs will also be available at the Heathcote Visitor Centre from 9am, until sold out. Parks manager Tyrone Downie says it is first in, first served.
