USA WheelHawks surprise Frame Running kids in Wollongong
USA WheelHawks met Frame Running Wollongong children during their World Cup visit.
The USA WheelHawks, a wheelchair rugby league team visiting Wollongong for the World Cup, spent an afternoon with Frame Running Wollongong, a charity that helps children with disabilities play sport on custom-designed three-wheel bikes.
The kids raced, threw balls, knocked over pins and spent time with their heroes. Six-year-old Eli said racing against the players was the best part.
One child has Angelman Syndrome and cannot walk without a walker; the frame runners let him run around like his older brothers. Another child uses a walking frame to get around; now she races and knocks over soccer balls every Monday with friends.
The players loved it too. WheelHawks player Lisa Maddox said: "You cannot help but smile when they are smiling."
