Teenager dies in head-on crash on Picton Road south-west of Sydney
A teenager died in a head-on crash on Picton Road near Wollongong early Saturday morning, with another driver seriously injured.
Two cars collided on Wilton's Picton Road, a major route between Wollongong and Sydney, before 6.30am Saturday. One driver, a man in his late teens, died at the scene.
The other, a 26-year-old, suffered head and leg injuries and was taken to Liverpool Hospital in serious but stable condition. The road closed in both directions for most of the morning and reopened by midday.
Police are still investigating and are asking anyone with dashcam footage to contact Camden Police Area Command. At least four fatal crashes have occurred on this stretch since 2022, and in nearby Buxton, five teenagers died in a crash in September 2022.
