The event typically draws hundreds of pet owners and dogs for free vet checks and registrations. The virus is highly contagious and deadly.
It attacks a dog's gut and immune system. Dogs suffer severe vomiting, diarrhoea and dehydration.
Karrinyup Small Animal Hospital, a partner in the event, introduced strict precautions. Vets test dogs outside the clinic.
Owners are asked not to enter the building. The city plans to reschedule the event for early 2027.
