North Albury church sells for $1.1m to neighbour dentist
Trinity Uniting Church sold for $1.1 million to Dr Jay Shah, who plans to use it for staff parking and clinic expansion.
Trinity Uniting Church on Mate Street in North Albury has sold through an expressions of interest process to neighbour Dr Jay Shah and his wife Jahnavi, both dentists. The 2750-square-metre property sold for $1.1 million, which the selling agent described as slightly above expectations.
Seven faith groups and three developers had shown interest. Dr Shah said he saw the purchase as an opportunity for future growth of his practice.
In the immediate term, the land will likely be used for staff car parking to free up spaces for patients. Dr Shah said he was unlikely to sell the property in the next five years.
Trinity's congregation had dwindled to single figures before members joined St David's Uniting Church in central Albury.
