Woman avoids jail for heroin supply after confessing addiction
Kayla Mansfield received a community order instead of jail after admissions about her addiction and drug dealing.
Police raided a Wollongong apartment and found 118 grams of heroin stuffed down the side of a bed and 10 grams of methamphetamine hidden in a pencil case. Mansfield admitted the drugs were for personal use.
She also shared them with friends and sold some to fund her habit. Kayla Mansfield's defence lawyer told the court she had struggled with mental health problems and had a difficult childhood.
Judge David Coulton took her admissions and background into account and agreed to spare her from full-time custody. She received a one-month intensive correction order.
This is essentially a jail sentence served at home. If she breaks the order, she goes to jail.
