Strathdale-Maristians chase seventh Bendigo premiership in eight years

The Suns have won 11 of the past 16 Bendigo District Cricket premierships and won last season's grand final.

Strathdale-Maristians begin their 2026-27 season on Saturday at Canterbury Park against Eaglehawk. The Suns carry the tag as reigning premiers and the competition's team to beat.

The Suns are on one of the greatest dynasties in BDCA history. The Suns have won six of the past seven first XI flags.

Stretching back to 2010-11, Strathdale-Maristians have won 11 of the past 16 premierships. The club has not missed finals since 2004-05, a run of sustained excellence now beyond 20 years.

They start their defence with eight members of last season's grand final team. These include skipper Grant Waldron and seven-time Cricketer of the Year Cameron Taylor.

Outside Strathdale-Maristians, only Kangaroo Flat won a BDCA first XI premiership in the past seven years. That was in 2022-23.
