Police officer rejects manslaughter deal in double murder trial
A NSW police officer rejected prosecutors' manslaughter offer in a double murder trial.
Beau Lamarre-Condon is a 31-year-old senior constable who appeared in NSW Supreme Court on Monday facing charges of murdering Jesse Baird and Luke Davies. Prosecutors rejected his offer to plead guilty to Baird's manslaughter.
The Crown alleges Lamarre-Condon stalked Baird after they ended their relationship. He damaged Baird's car and broke into his home.
Prosecutors say the officer entered Baird's Paddington home disguised as an Uber Eats rider on February 19. He shot Baird twice in the kitchen.
Then he killed Davies in a bedroom. Alleged planning for the murders included researching how to conceal gunfire.
It included buying a surfboard cover to hide the bodies. A jury of 15 was selected for the trial.
It is expected to last at least 12 weeks. More than 100 witnesses will be called.
