Darth Vader's lightsaber from Empire Strikes Back heads to auction
The lightsaber Darth Vader wielded in The Empire Strikes Back's famous duel with Luke Skywalker goes to Heritage Auctions on November 12.
The Darth Vader lightsaber used in Cloud City for the climactic scene where Vader tells Luke "I am your father" is heading to auction in the US. The lightsaber is expected to sell for at least $1 million USD (about $1.4 million Australian).
The prop was also used in Return of the Jedi. More than two dozen lightsabers will go on sale as part of the Ultimate Star Wars Auction, spanning all nine episodes plus spinoff films.
Other highlights include Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker's duelling lightsabers from Revenge of the Sith and Boba Fett's blaster. In July, Luke's severed hand from The Empire Strikes Back sold for $5.37 million, a record for any Star Wars film prop.
