Manchester City faces severe punishment after an independent commission found it guilty of breaking over 100 Premier League financial rules. The club used fake commercial contracts to artificially boost revenue and cut costs by AUD$1.7 billion across nine years.
City could be hit with a points penalty, expulsion from the league, or other sanctions. Manager Enzo Maresca broke his silence, telling City's website: "We trust completely the club.
The focus for us is just what we can control and we can control just the football side." Star striker Erling Haaland echoed the call for unity.
"We have to stick together and spread the love to each other," he said. City return to play Liverpool on Sunday (Monday AEDT) in their first match since the verdict.
