Kia K4 Hybrid arrival in Australia still unconfirmed
Kia Australia cannot confirm whether the K4 Hybrid, which started European production this month, will launch locally.
The Kia K4 Hybrid debuted at the Paris motor show but Kia Australia's product planning manager says no decision has been made on bringing it here. Production for Europe began this month at a Mexican plant.
The K4 Hybrid is a full hybrid with a 1.6-litre petrol engine and electric motor, producing 113 kilowatts. Kia Australia acknowledges it makes sense under the country's new fuel efficiency rules but has no timeline or confirmation to announce.
The standard petrol K4 has captured 16.5 per cent of Australia's small-car market this year. The Corolla Hybrid, the market leader, holds 27.9 per cent.
