Grant Stevens Appointed South Australia's Next Governor
South Australia's police commissioner Grant Stevens will become the state's next governor from December 9.
Stevens has served as Commissioner since 2015 and will replace Frances Adamson, whose five-year term ended. SA Premier Peter Malinauskas made the announcement this morning after King Charles confirmed the appointment.
Stevens will be sworn in on December 9, 2026, and will formally step down from the commissioner's role on October 23. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as the state's emergency coordinator.
