Independent review will assess ACT's five Walk-in Centres
An independent consultant will evaluate whether five ACT nurse-led Walk-in Centres deliver value for money.
An independent review of ACT's Walk-in Centres is underway. The Legislative Assembly called for it seven months ago.
Five centres operate across Canberra in Belconnen, Dickson, Weston Creek, Tuggeranong and Gungahlin. They're open from 7:30am to 10pm, seven days a week.
The Opposition and Australian Medical Association have questioned how well the model reduces pressure on emergency departments. The last evaluation was in 2011, when the first centre opened.
The consultant will review how well it works and patient safety. They will also review value for money and how it fits with other health services.
Final findings are due in June 2027.
