Gayfer smashes AFL vertical jump record at draft combine
Sam Gayfer's running vertical jump of 114 centimetres broke the AFL Draft Combine record by 7 centimetres.
Victoria Metro and Northern Knights forward Sam Gayfer set a new running vertical jump record at the 2026 Telstra AFL Draft Combine. Gayfer's effort of 114 centimetres beat the previous record by 7 centimetres, which Leek Aleer set in 2021.
Gayfer's jump also surpassed a matching effort by Sydney Swans Academy defender Mason McGroder earlier that same day. Northern Knights midfielder Maddison Meagher recorded the second-fastest 20-metre sprint of all time at 3.059 seconds.
Murray Bushrangers forward Eliza Roche set a new AFLW Draft Combine agility record at 8.106 seconds. The combines test athletes on vertical jumps, sprints, agility, and endurance.
