Music teacher, broadcaster and gardener nominated for Victorian Senior of the Year
Jeanette Hajncl, John McInnes and Geoff Rollinson earned nominations for the Victorian Senior of the Year.
Three Warrnambool residents earned nominations for the Victorian Senior of the Year. Each changed their community.
Jeanette Hajncl, 69, is a music teacher who arrived in 2001 and started multiple community choirs. Her choir members once came to clear her gutters and scrub her floors.
John McInnes, 83, has hosted a local radio show for more than two decades. He also leads the Warrnambool Symphony Orchestra.
Geoff Rollinson, in his 50s, went back to university. He studied environmental science and co-founded the Warrnambool Community Garden.
It now has more than 200 members. All three said they never wanted awards.
They were surprised to be nominated.
