Woden light rail plans swap grass tracks for gravel to save water
Final plans for the Woden light rail feature gravel tracks to save water and a relocated substation.
Infrastructure Canberra released final plans on Tuesday. Grass-lined tracks around Parliament House and Adelaide Avenue will now be gravel instead, to save water.
A power substation planned for Yarralumla will move to Deakin after locals opposed it. The speed limit on southbound Capital Circle will drop from 80 to 60 kilometres per hour because of a crash history in that area.
The agency reviewed 230 public comments. New trees will preserve views toward The Lodge and Mount Ainslie.
