Woman fined $5,000 for running illegal car dealership selling at least 30 vehicles
Dannielle Norman was fined $5,000 for buying and selling at least 30 vehicles without a dealer's licence between 2022 and 2024.
A Western Australian woman was sentenced to a $5,000 fine plus $770 in costs. Dannielle Norman admitted she worked as an unlicensed vehicle dealer.
Dannielle Norman bought or sold at least 30 vehicles between October 2022 and March 2024 without holding a required licence. Dannielle Norman was part of a larger operation run by Faiez Al-Defeari.
He was fined $140,000 in 2025 as the leader. The operation bought written-off vehicles at online auctions.
They fixed them and relicensed them. Then they sold them to consumers without telling them about the damage.
Investigators used bank records, auction records, phone records and transport department data to prove the scheme. Consumer Protection Commissioner Trish Blake warned that unlicensed dealing puts buyers at risk.
They don't know who they are really buying from. They don't know what a vehicle's history is.

Why it mattersBuyers can be tricked into buying hidden-damage vehicles without knowing these were written-offs. This creates safety issues and causes problems when they try to resell the vehicles later.
AustraliaWestern Australians should check the Consumer Protection website to verify a dealer is licensed before buying a car, and report suspected unlicensed dealers to protect other buyers.
