PLC Resources uses satellites to hunt gold in Western Australia
PLC Resources is using satellites to map mineral deposits at its Abbotts gold project in WA's Murchison region.
PLC Resources has begun a satellite survey across its Abbotts gold project in Western Australia's Murchison region to identify zones that could hold gold. The two-stage survey covers all four Abbotts tenements spanning 205 square kilometres, plus an additional 300 square kilometres nearby.
The first stage uses satellite imagery to map mineral changes. The second stage uses high-resolution imagery capturing 31-centimetre detail to map iron oxides, clays and sulphates in priority areas.
PLC expects a target map within four to six weeks to guide field exploration. The survey builds on a recent airborne magnetic survey revealing a large-scale fold structure more than 14 kilometres long considered prospective for gold.
A reverse-circulation drilling program at the Rochefort prospect is awaiting assay results.

Why it mattersThe satellite data could speed up gold discovery at Abbotts. It can help PLC compete in an active exploration market. Nearby discoveries are worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
AustraliaA major gold find in WA would create jobs, boost the state's mining sector, and attract further investment to the region.
