Box Hill edges Essendon to reach VFL Grand Final
Box Hill defeated Essendon by seven points in the VFL preliminary final to reach the grand final.
Box Hill advanced to the VFL Grand Final with a seven-point win over Essendon at Box Hill City Oval on Saturday. Calsher Dear kicked three goals from 15 disposals and eight marks, while youngster Aidan Schubert also slotted three goals for the Hawks.
Essendon's campaign ended despite senior players bringing experience, with Elijah Tsatas recording a game-high 30 disposals along with seven clearances and seven marks. Nik Cox and Jade Gresham kicked three goals each for the Bombers.
The Hawks will now face the winner of next week's other preliminary final between Geelong and Port Melbourne.
