Woolworths' viral $10 handbag resells for $85 on eBay
Woolworths' novelty hot roast chicken handbag sold out at $10 and is now listed on eBay for up to $85.
The thermal insulated bag arrived in Woolworths stores on October 14, styled to look like the packaging of the supermarket's $13 hot roast chickens. The bag sold out almost instantly.
Now the same bag appears on eBay and Facebook Marketplace for up to $85, a 750 per cent markup on the original price. The bag is fully functional, with a sturdy handle, detachable strap, and insulation that works as a lunch bag.
Woolworths says more stock will arrive in stores next week. Australians have nicknamed hot roast chickens "bachelor's handbags" for years because they're quick, protein-rich meals.
The phrase won Macquarie Dictionary's People's Choice Word of the Year in 2022.
