Cannabis grower fined after postal parcel triggers raid
A Warrnambool man pleaded guilty to cannabis cultivation after police raided his home following a postal worker's tip-off.
John Douglas Holmes was fined after admitting to growing cannabis at his Warrnambool home. Police raided the property and found a hydroponic setup with two mature cannabis plants weighing 1.32 kilograms.
A postal worker triggered the raid after noticing a strong cannabis smell from a parcel Holmes was mailing to New South Wales. Police intercepted the package and found cannabis chocolates and buds dipped in wax.
The trafficking charge was later withdrawn. Holmes now holds a prescription for medicinal cannabis.
