Rifo's sets Uber Eats menu to $99 to protest delivery app commissions

Perth cafe owner Doruk Kayhan priced Uber Eats items at $99 to protest delivery app commissions of 60 to 70 percent.

Rifo's Cafe changed every Uber Eats item to $99, up from $8-$32. Owner Doruk Kayhan said delivery apps take 60 to 70 percent of his sales.

These apps are now almost a quarter of his business. Kayhan said the platform made his restaurant feel like a factory, not a local business.

He stopped accepting delivery orders. He focused only on walk-in customers.

Staff had their best night in a decade with no delivery alerts. Kayhan asked Perth residents to support independent venues by visiting or ordering directly.
