Gold Coast ends QClash drought with 20-point win over Lions
Gold Coast claimed its first-ever QClash win, beating Brisbane 40-20 after trailing at three-quarter time.
The Suns trailed by two points heading into the final quarter but kicked three goals to none to seal a historic 5.10 (40) to 3.2 (20) victory at Brighton Homes Arena on Saturday night. Havana Harris kicked two crucial goals and Charlie Rowbottom added another to steer them home.
The win came after Gold Coast dominated field position throughout, taking the ball inside 50 on 45 occasions to Brisbane's 22. Rowbottom won best on ground with 36 disposals and nine clearances.
Co-captains Lucy Single and Niamh McLaughlin also played key roles, with Single kicking a brilliant individual goal in the second quarter. The victory cements Gold Coast's spot in the top eight.
