Dozen Future Fund executives earn over $1 million each, some double PM's pay
Twelve executives at Australia's sovereign wealth fund earn more than $1 million annually. Some earn roughly double the Prime Minister's pay.
The Future Fund Management Agency employs twelve executives earning over $1 million each year. One Executive Level 2 takes home an annual package of more than $1.5 million.
By comparison, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese earns about $622,000 base salary. The Future Fund Management Agency oversees $350 billion in investments.
The agency justified the salaries by saying it needs to attract top talent. The global investment markets are highly competitive.
The fund delivered a 14.8 per cent return in the 12 months to June 2026. This added $37.4 billion to its portfolio.
The Greens' finance spokesperson Barbara Pocock said the pay levels raise serious questions about value for taxpayer dollars.
